Lotus Fire Healing Arts
Stemming from the idea that fire has the potential to heal, purify, and energize: Lotus Fire Healing Arts established itself as a wellness brand aimed at coaching us to be our best and balanced selves. The owner hosts workshops and classes and offers 1:1 coaching.
I think it's important to note this, because it is one of the best examples within my work in which a brandmark literally encapsulates an idea. During discovery and the initial meeting with the owner, the idea of potentiality was brought up: the belief that each client has the potential for growth and self-actualization. In research, I found that the competition played it very safe visually, there was little to make you remember one from the other from a brand perspective. The visual trope I found in businesses such as this was the bloomed lotus. A bloomed lotus is the potential realized, but a budding lotus would be the potential in progress. I had never seen a budding lotus mark, so I had to make one. Then, I made a not-to-forced association of that with the mark of a simplified flame, and once I placed the flame around the budding lotus I began to believe that I truly had something. From there, I began to edit the petals of the budding lotus in order to get more meaning into it (not because it was asked for, or thought to be necessary, but because, in my brain, the mark was asking for it). So, "human embrace" and "third eye" found a place in the mark. It rings true for the brand, the person behind the business, and the mission of the business.
